Upcoming COVID-19 Primary Care Town Hall on Pediatric and Adolescent Vaccination Updates

On Tuesday, March 23, at noon, Children's National Hospital and the Pediatric Health Network will hold the next COVID-19 Primary Care Town Hall. Join us to hear the latest on COVID-19 infections, vaccinations and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) presented by Bud Wiedermann, M.D., M.A. Guest speaker Sandy Chung, M.D., FAAP, will also share experiences running a COVID-19 vaccine clinic out of a private practice.

Children's National Nephrology Division Expands

Children’s National Hospital has added five physicians to its nationally ranked Nephrology Division. Denver Brown, M.D., Celina Brunson, M.D., Ashima Gulati, M.D., Melissa Meyers, M.D., and Catherine Park, M.D., all have joined the department over a span of the past two years.

Fight for Children Sports Medicine Clinic Now Open

The new sports medicine clinic, located in downtown Silver Spring, opened its doors on March 11. The new Fight For Children Sports Medicine Center provides access to sports medicine and orthopaedic trauma services and X-ray capabilities. Later in the year, the center will be fully operational with physical therapy and a gait lab for motion analysis. View our photo gallery of the new facility.

Adult Congenital Heart Services Expanding to Richmond

We're excited to announce the addition of adult congenital heart disease services at Children's National Cardiology Richmond in late spring of this year. Anitha John, M.D., Ph.D., will bring specialized adult congenital heart disease expertise to Richmond, expanding care for congenital heart disease across the full spectrum – from prenatal diagnosis through congenital heart disease treatment in adults. New Balance and Vestibular Program - Service Line Update

The new Balance and Vestibular Program at Children's National treats children experiencing dysfunction of the vestibular system, such as dizziness, imbalance, vertigo and delayed development of motor function. Our state-of-the-art technology allows us to conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine the exact cause of a patient's condition, making us better equipped to provide targeted, precise rehabilitation for patients.

Looking Back One Year Later – Keeping it Renal: Global Cuisine for Kids

It's been a year since the Children’s National Hospital Division of Nephrology released the cookbook “Keeping it Renal: Global Cuisine for Kids” and we are still receiving requests for this collection of recipes. The cookbook contains a variety of kidney-friendly recipes that kids of all ages love and we are happy to share a copy with you. Learn more and request a copy!

Gerard Martin, M.D., F.A.C.C., Recognized with American College of Cardiology Top Honor

Gerard Martin, M.D., F.A.C.C., of Children's National Heart Institute, has been awarded the 2021 Master of the ACC Award by the American College of Cardiology in honor of contributions to the cardiovascular profession. The award recognizes and honors fellows of the American College of Cardiology who have consistently contributed to the goals and programs of the college, and who have provided leadership in important college activities. Dr. Martin founded the Children's National Heart Institute in 2004. Learn more.
