Pediatric Neurosurgery Team at Children's National Welcomes New Physician

Carlos Sanchez, M.D.
, has joined our Pediatric Neurosurgery team at Children’s National and has been appointed as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at The George Washington University School of Medicine and as Investigator in the Clinical and Translational Science Institute within the Children’s National Research Institute.
Dr. Sanchez recently completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship training at Rady Children’s Hospital at the University of California, San Diego after finishing his neurosurgery residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He served as a Harvard catalyst investigator while completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, developing immunotherapy approaches to target brain tumors, with support from a National Research Scholar Award by the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Sanchez will serve as an attending physician on the Neurosurgery inpatient and outpatient services and a principle investigator in the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research within the Program for Cell Enhancement and Technologies for Immunotherapy (CETI). As part of the CETI program he will be leading a project developing a CAR-NK immunotherapy product for patients with brain tumors.
He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Pediatric Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Sanchez is seeing patients at our main campus and our Fredrick Outpatient Center.
