Children’s National Research Institute (CNRI) is a leader in research that helps improve children’s health around the world. Our team of more than 500 experts works in six main areas:

  • Cancer and Immunology
  • Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science
  • Neuroscience
  • Pediatric Surgery Innovation
  • Precision Medicine and Genomics Research

We focus on solving the toughest health problems that kids face. By using advanced technology and science, CNRI develops better treatments, improves testing and creates new ways to care for children—so every child can have the healthiest start in life.

Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation

Children’s National is home to the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, a center dedicated to improving surgery for kids. The institute works to make operations more accurate, less invasive and as pain-free as possible. Its goal is to help children recover faster and have better results after surgery.

Discover the Research & Innovation Campus

CNRI is housed at the Research & Innovation Campus in Washington, D.C., a unique center created by Children’s National Hospital. Our location in the nation’s capital puts us close to important organizations like the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). This gives us the chance to work with schools, government agencies, businesses, investors, charities and our local community. Together, we share one goal: to improve the lives of children here and around the world.
